The second-oldest Flynn sister, Mary is the quietest of the four—which is not the same thing as being shy.

Silence, occupied.
Mary's quietness is active. More often than not, she is listening, watching, turning something over in her head, or following a pattern to see where it leads. Silence is usually already full of something for her.
Curiosity is often responsible. Mary wants to know how things work—and, very often, whether she can make them work differently. That instinct travels easily between instruments, arrangements, unfamiliar tools, and whatever else has caught her attention.

Attention with somewhere to go.
On guitar, harp, and strings, Mary's focus gives an arrangement shape without making a spectacle of the work. She listens across the stage, follows a shifting lead, and can step forward with one of the four voices at the center of Sisters Erie's sound.
Quiet does not mean background. Her energy is concentrated, and when a song calls for force, Mary has no need to become a different person to provide it.

Then sit back for the ride.
In a group, Mary may say comparatively little. Catch her on the right subject, however, and the conversational governor quietly comes off. Her musical knowledge can produce an entirely sincere “You've never heard this?” followed by the realization that, no, most people probably have not.
She is not usually the sister making jokes from across the room. Unfortunately, she does have a weakness for puns—especially music puns—delivered straight and often followed by a calm return to whatever she was doing. A long silence from Mary is no guarantee that everyone is safe.
